Industrial Modern Shoot Out at the White Shanty Venue in Provo, Utah

Last year, we had the opportunity to work alongside a couple super cool Utah based photographers, Courtney Rhian Photography & Terra Ong Photography, to create a shoot out event for around 15 different local photographers. Most of these photographers live & work all over the state of Utah and used this shoot as an opportunity to create more content for each of their growing brands. We had never been a part of a shoot out so we jumped at the chance to plan and design something stellar for so many photographers at once. The cool part about these types of shoots is that every photographer has a different shooting style, different editing style, and over-all different aesthetic. So, the same shoot appears differently in the final images… pretty cool, right?

The White Shanty is such a unique and rad venue. It’s clean, white, yet industrial look creates a blank canvas for all types of weddings and events to happen in their space. We knew we want to play into their overall look so we tried to keep things fairly simple and made sure to capture the surroundings- signature doors, metal beams, concrete floors, eclectic wooden furniture. We used a combination of vendors from both Arizona and Utah to complete the final design. We had worked with Aspen of Mint Green Designs in Arizona, but never in Utah. She typically does florals in both states, so it was a great opportunity for us to get to work with her in a different market. Since she was traveling from Arizona anyway, we had her bring some of our favorite rentals from Bright Event Rentals with her. They provided the most perfect, clean, minimal tabletop dinnerware. Their items paired well with Mint Green’s basic floral frog/single stem table garland that was set on top of layered BBJ table runners. We also featured a newer napkin design from BBJ for this shoot- the Alder linen. Minted provided our simple black and white invite suite and menus. We chose one of their more minimalistic designs with bold, modern fonts. We had requested that Sugar Mom Cakes provide 2 concrete-looking cakes and she surprised us with 3!!! We added a cascading orchid to the largest of the 3 and the juxtaposition of the masculine looking cake design with the feminine phalaenopsis orchid was just what we needed to complete the overall look.

Our “bride and groom” for this shoot were a real life married couple and holy moly, they were THE CUTEST (& the kindest) humans ever. Our bride wore a Calla Blanche gown that we had shipped in from one of our most favorite bridal boutiques in Arizona- J Bridal Boutique. This dress was unbelievable and even had a removable skirt. This bride was a natural beauty, but Everyday Glamourhood and Brooke Clark helped bring our bridal vision to life and turned our bride from beautiful to STUNNING. Lucky for us, our groom wore his own fitted suit that looked impecable on him. Together, they’ve never looked better. ;)

Since there were so many photographers at this shoot, we‘ve decided we’d love to showcase a few images from some of the photographers in order to share everyone’s work in a single blog post. Again, each photographer has a different shooting and editing style so the images below may look like they were taken at different shoots, but they weren’t. We had so much fun working on this event with everyone and hopefully will get to work with some of you again in the future.
