Minimalistic Color-blocked Modern Styled Shoot featured on The Perfect Palette

In a wedding world often filled with soft pastels and organic materials, we’d been dying to create a modern design with bold color-blocking and clean lines.

We started with a color palette of black, white, and shades of mauve pink. That later evolved into adding in some burgundy and gold as accents. We also knew we wanted to incorporate a specific Carol Hannah gown we had seen online, the new Starburst tables from Bright Event Rentals, and the Smoke MacKenna linen from La Tavola. As all of these bold elements came together, we realized we needed a clean, white space as our venue to create the overall modern vibe we were going for. The Clayton on The Park (located in Scottsdale, Arizona) was exactly that. We weren’t able to find a local florist to participate in this shoot, so we got our hands dirty and did all the florals ourselves. We are BIG fans of florals in general, and floral design. We love doing it in our free-time (ha), however, it’s not something we typically offer as part of our services. We just love when we get the chance to practices these skills. As the final design started to really come together, it became clear that we needed to shoot this on film (as well as digital) to give it the juxtaposition of what we typically see in this industry. We had worked with Lesley Bodwell Photography previously and knew she was the right choice for this editorial shoot. She brought her A-game and it clearly shows in the images.

We wanted to keep our groom looking casual, but dapper. We opted for a simple, black suit from Nick’s Menswear, a floral print button up, and no tie. This gave him a daring, fresh look. Our bride was a natural beauty, so it didn’t take much to give her the look we desired. Makiaj Beauty gave her a modern, yet timeless makeover that paired perfectly with her gown and helped to elevate her overall appearance.

With such a fun and unique design, we knew we needed to bring in some pretty rad elements to really level up. Borrowed From a Bride provided the neon sign we added to the bar. It created a showstopping “Beyonce-esque” piece that you don’t typically see. The color-blocked cake by Dessert First was everything and more. It blew our minds. Freed Hands tweaked one of her semi-custom invites and added the perfect Taylor Swift lyric to really tie everything together.

In the end, this shoot came together even better than we had envisioned. We felt the overall design was something you don’t see every day in the wedding industry. We encourage you to get creative, think boldly, and don’t be afraid to create something different for your special day. The end result will set your day apart from others.
