Holiday Tablescape Styled 3 Different Ways for Your Small Backyard Gatherings

The holidays are just around the corner and last month we had the opportunity to create some dreamy holiday setups for BBJ/ La Tavola Fine Linen. They asked us to create a holiday tablescape using linens- both for the table and for the napkins- from their elaborate collections. We use their goods regularly for most of our weddings so we are familiar with the styles and options they offer. We tend to use more of their colorful products so this time we opted to go the neutral route and we are obsessed with the outcome.

We were able to throw this entire multi-setup shoot together in just 5 days (before we headed to Hawaii for a month)! From ask, to design, to gathering up a stellar vendor team [in the midst of a pandemic, mind you]…. we made it happen. Of course we couldn’t have done this alone and we are always just so grateful for the vendors we know and love and who are always so willing to help and support us. We decided to do three slightly different setups- one for a wedding, one for Thanksgiving, and one for Christmas. We kept the overall color palette shades of white and ivory with splashes of gold. For the location, we really wanted to play into the smaller, more intimate celebrations that are happening this year. Also, assuming that any sort of holiday gatherings that are happening should be happening outdoors in order to keep our family and friends as safe as possible. The Paseo is one of our favorite, local event spaces. Their flawless architecture, picturesque views, and blank canvas design allow for any/all types of events to take place there. We decided to use their typical “ceremony” space for our al fresco dinner setup. This area of the venue somewhat resembles the “backyard” of a pretty spectacular home, really helping to make this design feel doable for all of your “at home” gatherings this year.

The first setup we did is, naturally, the wedding setup. This design is simple, romantic, and gives off a high-end look although a small, more intimate setting. Lea of Lea Bemicker Photography captured every setup perfectly.

For the Thanksgiving setup, we swapped out the crystal water glasses for brown goblets and added wicker chargers. We also spruced up the place setting with a cute little wheat/feather combo. And finally, we swapped out the crystal tapper candle holders for some homemade birch holders. This helped to make the setup a bit more casual and added in some more natural, earth tones. We love how we kept it elevated, yet organic- the perfect Thanksgiving combo.

And finally, our stunning Christmas setup. We wanted this setup to feel extra cozy so we added some plaid throws to the lounge area and some sheepskin to a few of the velvet chairs (you’d never have known it was still 100 degrees outside the day we did this shoot…gotta love fall in Arizona). We also swapped out all of the traditional votives for these beautiful LED lit crystal Christmas tree votives. They added just enough holiday glitz to the already romantic tablescape. We also switched up the place setting addition and opted for a more festive grouping of bleached ruscus and a metallic/glittered eucalyptus stem.

Thank you to Ali at BBJ/ La Tavola for asking us to participate in this fun opportunity to create. Also, thank you to the amazing vendors listed below who jumped in last minute to create this magic with us:
