Just a Feeling: Park City Hybrid Workshop with Daniel Kim

When Daniel Kim reached out and asked if we wanted to help plan his educational styled shoot in Park City, Utah for Hybrid Co., we gave an immediate YES!  Daniel has been a peer of ours for years- we worked together many times, but we are also lucky enough to call him a friend.  His passion, drive, and authenticity shine through in every single image that he takes.  His talents are unmatched.

But the thing we love the most about Daniel is that when he talks, people fucking listen.  He speaks his truth, from his heart, and on his own terms.  He’s not afraid to do it his way …even if it’s not what the rest of the wedding industry is doing.  For this, getting to work alongside him, is a true honor.

When dreaming up what this shoot would become…Daniel gave me the title he envisioned for the shoot, from there, it was my job to help bring it to life.  Insert: Just A Feeling. Given we had lived in Utah for a couple of years, we were very familiar with the Park City area and we knew we needed to do the shoot in the middle of the mountains, near The Church of Dirt.

We setup multiple β€œstations” for the 25-ish attendees to rotate through.  Daniel would hop around to the different stations and teach about his shooting methods.  Some stations were just details- flatlays, tablescape, etc… while others involved humans.  Although it was all pretty, the attendees were there to learn how to shoot the people.  Daniel is known for his effortless, candid, real photography style.  His photos make you feel like you were there.  What you feel when you see his photos is so much more important to DK than what you actually see when looking at them. They just ALSO happen to be flawlessly beautiful.

Below, we’ve showcased a few images from each of the photographers who sent over their shoot gallery once it was complete. By looking at the photos, I think it’s safe to say, everyone absorbed what Daniel was saying.

Daniel- Thank you for including us in this. Our scouting time together, our long talks, and the INSANE hustle from this day is something I’ll never forget. Forever grateful to know you. Thanks for always being YOU- never change. XO
